The security approach of BundesMessenger

  • All messages you send via BundesMessenger are encrypted; this also applies to sending files and images
  • BundesMessenger is publicly available, but can only be used by authorized persons with a personal account
  • There are three different passwords within BundesMessenger:
    • Your user password, which you need for the (first) login to BundesMessenger; if necessary, you can change your user password in the settings
    • A PIN (only in the Android and iOS apps), which you need every time you want to use BundesMessenger. You set the PIN during the first login. To change the PIN, simply go to the Security menu in the settings
    • The recovery key – this is used to encrypt all your messages
